Welcome to the Norte Vista Band and Colorguard blog! Here's a space to get caught up on events, announcements, reminders, and more.
Last week was the last week in the 2nd grading period for the semester so most students had until friday to turn in any missing work. This week for the band we worked on turning in screencastify recordings of us playing Dark Ride, and What a Wonderful word for the jazz band, in addition to the soundtrap recording we already had done earlier in the week. The colorguard worked on warm ups on the weapons, and some choreography on the weapons and flag. In terms of in person practice we reviewed what we learned last week, and we worked on forwards marching in all the sections. The percussion worked on moving exercises from pads to the instruments.
(here the clarinets are learning more about upper body control in marching)
(Battery's rehearsal, here the battery is going over different exercises)

These are miniature shoutouts to those students who work hard to improve and help others. ICU’s are a way for other students and leaders to recognize them for the effort they put in. Keep up the great work! These will be posted on the @novi_band_guard instagram in addition to being posted on the weekly blogs starting next week.
Angelica C - “She’s really great at keeping up communication, and she has been progressing massively these past few weeks in the private lessons. She also doesn't back down from being involved in practice even with her busy schedule”
Judith V - “Judith surprised me with how much she was able to pick up in our few rehearsals, when I see her march I feel this sense of pride and determination. She isn't afraid to ask questions and I love her attitude”
Saul H - “Although at first he didn't know if he would stay i’m really glad that he has, he’s improved so much during our in person practice and he has had a really good attitude throughout all the in person rehearsals we have had”
Viviana T - “Once she came to in-person rehearsal, I got to see her demeanor and how much effort she puts into what we work on. She isn't afraid to get better and I can definitely tell with the presence she projects during our reps. Overall I' m really glad to see her coming every Thursday, she's been a great addition to the band family”
Overall amazing improvement from all these individuals, we’re very proud of all that you’ve accomplished so far, keep it up!
We will also be having student interviews! This is a way for parents to understand a students perspective better considering no one really needs any more stress with this pandemic. It's also a way to get to know some of the characters that we have in the band and guard at Novi. A new addition to the interview segment is a short video format so stay tuned for next week on Monday on the band blog!
Have a great week everyone!
