Weekly Blog 3/22/22 (English)

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who supported us by coming to our spring concert ! It was incredible to see so many people join us in this magical experience. A special shout out to all of the booster parents and students who helped make this event possible! We are excited to continue our musical journey with the future events to come.

Festival is right around the corner! This Wednesday on March 23rd, we are going to Santiago high school (1395 E Foothill Pkwy, Corona, CA 92881) to perform the pieces our students have so diligently been working on! Here’s an itinerary of what Wednesday will look like:

Timeline:

3:00pm - Pizza provided for all students

4:00pm - Get Dressed

4:30pm - Depart to Santiago High School

6:00pm - Symphonic Band

7:00pm - Wind Ensemble Performance

7:45pm - Depart for Dinner Performance

8:00pm - Dinner

9:00pm - Depart to Norte

9:45pm - Arrival to Novi

We ask that students bring $20 for a band dinner after the festival. Tomorrow is an action-packed day and we can’t wait to be back on track with our musical performances.

Due to unforeseen events, our Disneyland trip has been changed from March 25th to April 21st. Thank you to everyone for being flexible and understanding of these changes. More information will come for this event as we arrive closer to the date. Students should have already turned in their teachers' signatures of approval to go on this trip. All final forms and money for this trip are due by Wednesday, March 23rd. Attendance to the Combined Rehearsal and Festival are required to attend the Disneyland Trip (if applied).

With all the upcoming events, we are trying to implement a new program in order to support our students who have D’s and F’s in their current classes. The Peer Mentor program will give these students the opportunity to get personal support in raising their grades. As many of you already know, there is a Disneyland Field Trip happening on April 21st. We don’t want to leave our students with low grades behind on this trip so we have made adjustments to the grade requirements, as long as they agree to sign up to the mentorship program. In this program, the student will be paired with a mentor (upperclassmen) who will be checking up on them and helping them with accountability in their classes and any other question they may have. A requirement of this program is to attend the Study Hall secession in the Band Room every Tuesday from 1:30 - 2:30 pm. This will be a requirement until they attain a passing grade.

Thank you so much to all the parents for being incredible support systems to all of our students here at Novi Band and Guard ! Everything you do is greatly appreciated and seen, from bringing your children to rehearsal to being present in their musical achievements. Thank you so much !

I hope you have an amazing rest of your week,

Mr. Lomeda

Concert Band

This week has been full of planning and resting up for our busy week ahead of us! From playing for each other individually to spot checking sections of our music as a band, we’re making great work for our festival on the 23rd, and our Colorguard is making great progress in their winter show. Great things are happening in our band and guard, and we’re excited to see where this week takes us.

Person of the Week : Jonathan Kim

Jonathan has been an incredible flute player since day one. Day in and day out, Jonathan comes to rehearsal prepared and with an incredible sense of musicality. Not only was their solo at our last concert phenomenal, the fact they picked up piccolo so quickly is impressive. Keep up the great work, Jonathan!
