Weekly Update - August 30, 2021

We had our first football game this last Thursday and all of the students had a great time! We performed the Star Spangled Banner in front of our first live audience and the next home football game will take place on September 24th. This week we will have our first Saturday rehearsal from 8am-12pm. We need everyone there as the goal for this week is to put the first movement (song) on the field. The goal is to have 2 songs on the field by our next football game. Student attendance is always what will make us successful if we will fail if students are absent. Please click here for all future events, which was missing a few events when first presented during our mandatory parent meeting.

Again, a big thank you for all of your food and drink donations, and a huge thank you to Milton Vasquez for cleaning all 60 of our marching band uniforms, which is A LOT of work! Another BIG THANK YOU to Mytu Ly, for offering to provide tacos for our marching band and color guard members after school on Tuesdays. We are stronger because of your support! All groups have been progressing very well and it is great working with every student and learning about who they are as people.

Merchandise orders will be coming in within the next 2 weeks. Thank you for your patience and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in their NoVi band and guard merchandise!

This Weeks Events :

• Saturday Rehearsal 8am-12pm

This week was action packed! Tuesday, we started drill -- the actual field formations that accompany our music -- and later in the week we got new show music. Then, on Thursday we had our first football game, where we performed the Star Spangled Banner, and played pep tunes in the stands. That was a lot of fun, and it was great for the students to finally perform in front of a crowd.

Person of the Week: Joao Portugal

  • Joao has been someone who’s demonstrated his commitment and perseverance over time. He’s become someone who helps his peers out, and at one point even helping get people’s attention for announcements. His growth as of yet has been great, and I can’t wait to see where it’ll go in the future.
